I'm Shilpa...

Photographer, Traveler, Cocktail Imbiber, Serial Coffee Drinker

Hi there! I’m Shilpa, a Motherhood and Family photographer based along the Jersey Shore and New York City. Over the past several years, I've photographed both in-home sessions as well as outdoors working with fun and laid-back families. My portrait sessions have a strong focus on Motherhood and are filled with emotion and life, taken in a natural, editorial style. The beautiful connection between you and your babies and loved ones are captured for the purposes of creating tangible fine art gallery prints for your home. These photographs aren’t just for you. They're also for those that come after you. They tell the story of your family legacy. I offer a unique custom experience with the intent of creating gorgeous, meaningful portraits all while offering you a joyful, stress-free experience. Regardless of what the milestone is - whether it's a maternity session, a newborn session, an adoption or just celebrating the joys of parenthood- this boutique custom experience is an opportunity in our busy lives for you to connect and spend intentional time together as a family. I pay close attention to detail and I truly believe that high quality is worth the pursuit when it comes to finding the right photographer for you. Life flies by so quickly and those irreplaceable fleeting moments of our little ones are gone in an instant. The time to preserve those memories the best we can is now.

Film is a medium that evokes qualities that create lasting works of art. Film is luxurious and has a unique subtle dreamy quality that digital cameras cannot produce. Film is light-hungry and captures light and movement in a way that is very different from digital images. The ethereal, dreamy, painterly look of film is especially stunning on portraits. I shoot with the iconic Hasselblad and carry several rolls of film during each of my sessions. Digital cameras also serve a large role in my photography session in capturing gorgeous detailed images, as well as capturing those memories especially when there is insufficient light to shoot film. That's why I choose to shoot both film and digital cameras during my sessions. I've always believed that timeless beauty and simplicity trump trendy. Whether captured on digital or film, my images will always be something you will be proud to display for years to come.

I truly believe that one feels a stronger connection to something when it is tangible. Holding your cherished family images in your hand has a completely different feel from viewing them on a computer screen. We live in a digital age where it is easy to rely on technology to view and store our family images that we cherish. While storing them in such a manner is convenient, imagine if your computer crashed, or your thumb drive got corrupted and you lost all those meaningful family photographs. What then? That's why my clients choose me to help them create those meaningful images I capture as printed fine art so they'd be preserved forever! Give your future generations that thrill of re-discovering those timeless prints of their family legacy. I only offer my clients the very best printed products sourced from highly reputable companies in the industry. These include exquisite handmade heirloom quality albums and museum-quality framed prints so that those cherished memories will be preserved the way they ought to be. Click below to find out more.

current obsessions...
While caffeine is what fuels me, my latest obsession is Bellocq Tea Atelier's rose and cardamom infused herbal chai. (Hint: Booked clients, get ready to be blown away :)

I'm always working on a new cocktail and a new country to visit...usually at the same time.
